We spent many months finding the right breeder for our GSD and waited even longer for a litter to be born. The exhaustive search ended in a day of joy when we were finally able to pick up our new, 8 week old puppy Jake. My wife and I had both owned dogs growing up but we quickly found out that we really didn't know how to train the newest addition to our family and that is when the search for a trainer began. We picked Jeff because his training philosophy matched ours and he was very responsive as we reached out to him. It all started with our first in-home meeting and although our puppy was still very young (10 weeks at this point), Jeff assured us that we could begin training but reminded us that we needed to stay within our puppy's limitations. Jeff had such a great way with our dog and his interactions with our family, including our 3 boys, have been extremely positive. The house training went very smoothly and we quickly moved on to sit, down, stay, place and heel.
We have been working with Jeff for 6 months now and constantly have people praising Jake's behavior and wishing their dog could "be like him". Jeff has been extremely supportive throughout this entire journey and is always available by phone or email to address any of our questions. Even though we have hourly sessions with him, Jeff is never watching the clock and rushing out on us. He takes the time to make sure we understand what needs to be done and why it should be done the way he is suggesting. Jeff has been a source of strength for my family in helping us to raise Jake and we are looking forward to continuing on with even more advanced service training. More than a few people questioned our decision to start training so early in Jake's life but I am extremely happy that we took Jeff's advice and did just that because now we have a well adjusted, trained dog at a point in his development when most people are just starting to realize that they have more than they can handle.
