Ushi a change in attitude in 24 hours
Ushi came to me with some aggression issues…she is only with me for 2 weeks while her owners take a vacation. She bit me the first day and has gone after anyone putting their hands near her head….so how do you deal with a dog like this…..my method is simple…if she growls, lunges and bites at anyone and they move away then the dog wins…so the first step is to get the dog out of the kennel…i had the client bring the crate from home since I wanted to make sure that the dog got used to coming out of its own crate….i also am not going to go into the crate and give it food as bribery to get it out…because then I am praising it for being aggressive ….this is because we do not know what the dog is thinking..
so what do i do..i get my 6 foot aggression pole out(the pole has a loop on the end that you slip over the dogs head, pull the end and twist and then you can drag the dog out)..put on my bite gloves and my leather apron and go in and get the dog.
some people look at this as mean or possible scaring the dog…oh well get over it….
well…..this next photo is 24 hours later
its hard to tell from this photo but Ushi is doing a play bow and is extremely excited to go outside with me…the reason is that we established that coming out of your crate leads to going outside with me, which means we are going to either 1)go to the bathroom 2)play with a ball or toy 3)do some training..and she loves to do all 3 with me….
this is Ushi allowing me to put on her training collar before we go outside….the day before she was trying to bite the hands
Ushi working in a heel through cones while Clover acts as a distraction..
so where are we within 72 hours of Ushi arriving…
She comes out of her crate when told…goes and waits by the door to go outside…goes outside….follows me around the training yard..comes to me when I call her and allows me to pet her up and down all over her body..we go for training walks and always sits when I stop…does her sit/stay…..does the PLACE command…is starting to socialize with other dogs…and I have high hopes for her…
