Filming at Newark Intl. Airport
After I put all of the dogs to bed last night I packed up my van along with max and uma and headed to Newark Intl Airport…we have a 7am crew call. I arrived at the airport and park in Section 105 B about 100yds from the entrance to my entry point in the morning..it is about 10 degrees outside…I am hoping that the warmth of the van during the drive along with the dogs keeps the van relatively warm for the next 6 hours..no big deal if it doesn’t…I am used to backpacking in zero degree weather….
I love having my van back…the dogs love having the van back, I had not been taking my big walks with 6 plus dogs since I could not put that many in the rental truck…all of the dogs love the van..they get excited when they see it since they associate it with fun.
I finally bought a new porta potty for my van..the other one was falling apart and decided to spring for one..they are under 100 dollars and make my life on the road much better…I can pee in Starbucks Ice coffee cups and then through them in the trash…but for some reason when I had to poop I just could not squat over the cup and line it up….(I really didn’t do that)
The funny thing is in the winter I have to put windshield washer fluid in the porta potty instead of water..since it gets too cold in the van and all of my water freezes.
The dogs are sleeping…we just ran around the parking lot and got nasty looks from the security….I will try to get some sleep….I will try to get pictures of all of the action on the set..I am only in Newark for about 12 hours and then back to home to work in the Kennel…
I was up at 5:30am so about 4 hours sleeping…it is cold..but not too cold…once I put my clothes on and a jacket I am fine. I am tired though, I head over to the Marriot which is maybe 100yards from where I parked. Grabbed a cup of coffee and read the Sunday NY Times..I headed over to the airport at 8 or so and got through security and waited…after about an hour I was told to go back to the holding room at the Mariott to get my customs costume on…at the moment I am just sitting in a meeting room with a couple of people waiting…for some reason they don’t want me over there until the scene is ready to shoot…no big deal…I can get lots of work done…
Max and Uma hanging out in between takes….I am working with another actor who played the other customs agent
Uma is listening to her directions on a scene..she did great..she was in 2 scenes and Max was in 1…she busts the guy bringing drugs into the country and is a big turning point in the movie…
It was a long day…I left the airport around 4pm and headed home…the van seemed to not have a lot of power though and kept stalling out when I came to a stop….so I have to take it back to have it adjusted…I was also only getting 10 miles to the gallon which is really weird…maybe part of the break in process….
All in all the dogs did well..though I need to train them to misbehave on command…this is something that I never thought to do….so I will need to start training my dogs for different situations. This should be fun to do..I also made some great contacts in the industry and should start getting more and more movie jobs because of this..
