Punishment stops unwanted behavior, Rewards increases wanted behavior.
Punishment stops unwanted behavior, rewards increases wanted behavior
There is so much nonsense about how punishment is bad for dogs and you should only reward dogs for the behavior you want. Ignoring the unwanted behavior will NEVER stop it, if anything it will only increase since you have not told the dog it is not acceptable. Punishment is just information, it is not abuse and that conversation that is put out there is extremely irresponsible bordering on unethical behavior from trainers who believe that you should only reward and never punish. Watch the video above which is taken from a Facebook Live session as I get into it pretty deep.
This is so true. Many people are so afraid to “punish” their dogs. They have been told so many times it is not scientific, no necessarily, abusive, and worst of all, that only backward poorly skilled trainers would use it.
I have heard trainers who asked other trainers how to correct a dog. I think it is both sad and ridiculous.
These trainers have only been taught how to train with two quadrants and when they needed to use positive punishment they did not know how.
Thanks for keep spreading the right message to keep dogs from being put down.
