Awesome, Humbling, Educational Experience

Soโ€ฆafter an amazing week interning with Jeff I wanted to share a few things that I learned:
1) Apparently, my dog hates German Shepards (apologies to Mack, Girl and Uma ๐Ÿ˜‰  He thought hard about mixing it up with Ronan, but made a better choice in that situation.
2) I absolutely love ecollar training and will be putting it to great use. The clear and concise communication with an ecollar beats any training tool I have yet to use and my own dogs are incredibly more attentive.
3) The value of the words โ€œgoodโ€, โ€œnoโ€ and โ€œbreakโ€ are irreplaceable when you start building a relationship with the dog! Be consistent.
3) BE NICE! Of all the things I learned this was a big one. Be nice in the thoughts you think, the words you speak and the behaviors you offer to the environment around you. Be nice to dogs, clients, communities, and supporters. Be nice until itโ€™s time not to be nice and then be fair.
When it comes to training, I saw more positive reinforcement and relationship building in an environment where most of the world thinks the tools we use are abusive, then I have ever seen in positive only or positive mostly training centers and trainers. It was an incredibly awesome, humbling and educational experience.
